Brunanburh 937 AD = Fought towards the end of September 937 AD between the Anglo – Saxon army of King Athelstan, (grandson of Alfred the Great) with the support of Viking mercenaries, and a Scottish led coalition army under the command of King Constantine. Which as with as will as Scots and Picts also featured Welsh & Strathclyde Romano - British allies and a sizeable contingent of Irish Vikings under the command of Olaf Guthfrithson. The resuilt of the battle was a decisiave Anglo – Saxon victory.
